Cleanliness not political issue – Lungu

President Edgar Lungu has called for unity and oneness in keeping the environment clean.

President Lungu says cleanliness is not a political issue and therefore everyone should take part in keeping the environment clean regardless of political affiliation.

The head of state notes that diseases that come about as a result of dirty environments does not chose whether a person is PF or UPND or belongs to any other political party it affects everyone.

Speaking in Kafue where he went to take part of the  routine monthly cleaning exercise president Lungu says diseases like cholera are as a result of dirtiness .

He is hopeful that the cleaning exercise at every last Saturday of the month will continue.

President Lungu has also urged Zambians to enhance cleanliness and clean the drainages considering that the rains are almost here.

He has since commended the artists who are performing songs and acting as ambassadors to spearhead the keep Zambia clean and green campaign.

The head of state however expressed disappointment with Kafue member of Parliament Miriam Chonya who has shunned the occasion.

Meanwhile Lusaka province minister Bowman Lusambo has encourages the residents to take care if the drains and infrastructure being put up by government.

Mr. Lusambo also stated that it is a shame that the area member of Parliament has shunned the event.

President Lungu has today joined residents of Kafue in a cleaning exercise at Kafue’s Zambia compound matanda market.
