SEC notes increased SME interest to list on LuSE

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has noted increased interest by small and medium entities wanting to list on the Lusaka Stock Exchange (LuSE).

MUTUMBOI MUNDIASEC Market Supervision and Development Director, Mutumboi Mundia says this follows sensitization to promote alternative investment uptake on the stock market which SEC conducted from 2015 to 2016.

Ms. Mundia says as a result of this sensitization which was conducted Countrywide, SEC established that there was lack of awareness on the requirements for listing on the capital market.

She states that in view of the foregoing, the Securities and Exchange Commission’s strategy now is to target the banking sector in promoting awareness on the available alternatives for sourcing funds for investments in the sector.

Ms. Mundia explains that the commission is targeting banks because they are in a position to determine which companies are able to participate on the capital market.
