40 companies to be part of Zambia’s delegation at IAFT

Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry, Christopher Yaluma says his ministry is targeting to engage more than 40 companies to be part of the Zambian delegation that will participate in the Intra African Trade Fair (IAFT) to be held from 11th to 17th December in Cairo, Egypt.

In a speech read on his behalf by Ministry of Commerce Economics Director Kelvin Kamayoyo at the Intra African Trade Fair sensitization conference, Mr. Yaluma says Zambia has confirmed participation at the fair and that 40 companies and agencies within government and other institutions have been engaged to partner with the ministry in order to have a successful exhibition in Cairo.

He says it’s expected that through the fair, Small Medium Enterprises will be given an opportunity to market their goods and services.

Mr. Yaluma says it is also hoped that SME’s will be able to identify new markets within Africa and beyond.

Speaking at the same event, Intra African Trade Fair, Ambassador, Dr Caleb Fundanga says most SME’s are unable to effectively trade as there is lack of information on access to trade and export.

Dr Fundanga says the fair will therefore benefit SME’s who will participate.

And Zambia Development Agency acting Director Export division, Obby Banda says trade fairs are an opportunity to penetrate international and regional markets to enhance trade and revenue collection in the country.
