Former Transport and Communication Minister William Harrington has appealed to President Edgar Lungu to consider shifting the Day of National Prayer, Fasting, Reconciliation and Repentance to the last Sunday of the month of October.

Speaking in a walk in interview with QTV News, Mr Harrington says the move will allow for the separation of the state from the national day of prayer and allow the church to spearhead all activities that are to do with the national day of prayer.

He has noted with concern that the declaration of 18th October as a holiday has brought a lot of controversy among various stakeholders.

Mr Harrington has charged that forcing people to pray on a particular day through a presidential decree is dictatorial and unworkable.
