ZARI challenged to give information on looming El-Nino

United Prosperous and Peaceful Zambia (UPPZ) spokesperson Francis Kope has challenged the Zambia Agriculture Research Institute to avail more information to the farmers about the looming El-Niño so that they can begin exploring best ways on how to deal with its effect.

Mr. Kope adds that the research institute should also advise farmers which pesticides to use in the event of an outbreak of armyworms.

He says this will help cushion the adverse impact of both the El-Niño and the armyworms during the forthcoming farming season.

Mr. Kope states failure to do so will see a repeat of the 2017-2018 farming season which saw most fields being ravaged by the armyworms.

He says the problem of armyworms is not new to Zambia and therefore must not pose a challenge in dealing with.
