Lungu urges investors to ignore rumor mongers

President Edgar Lungu has urged investors to ignore what he has termed as irresponsible rumor mongering aimed at impacting negatively on the country’s economy.

President Lungu says he is aware that some opposition political parties have come up with bitter attacks to try and derail the country’s economy through negative foreign media reports.

Speaking at the launch of the newly constructed Total Zambia headquarters in Lusaka, President Lungu says the irritating lies are expressly designed to hurt the economy and that investors should not take such seriously.

He says government will continue to create an enabling environment to promote progressive investors such as Total.

President Lungu says his administration is in full support and happy to work with stakeholders such as Total on initiatives that clearly compliment the national energy policy.

Speaking at the same event, Total Chairperson Pierre-Yves Sachet says the company has invested over 30 million United States dollars in infrastructure development in Zambia which include state of the art fuel storage depots and modern service stations across the country.

And Total Managing Director Olufemi Babajide has reaffirmed his company’s commitment to offer its employees a conducive working environment that is homogeneous everywhere the company operates.
