Don’t tolerate criminals, President Lungu tells police

vlcsnap-2542-04-16-15h52m53s982President Edgar Lungu has urged the Zambia Police Service and Defence forces in the country not to tolerate criminals and befriending them.

Speaking during the swearing in ceremony for Zambia Air Force Deputy Air Commander Major General Kapotwe Chintu, Deputy Inspector General of Police Bonny Kapeso and Southern Province Commissioner of Police Diamond Likashi, President Lungu says it is important for Police officers and Defence personnel to see to it that they do not associate themselves with criminals as doing so would make it difficult for them to do their work as expected of them by the Zambian people.

President Lungu has encouraged the trio sworn-in to continue exhibiting professionalism, loyalty and commitment to duty.

He says providing leadership calls for selflessness and appreciating the challenges citizens are facing

The head of state is confident that the experience of the trio will contribute to the enhancement of their services in their respective offices.

And speaking after being sworn-in, Deputy Inspector General of Police Bonny Kapeso has warned those in the habit of taking the law into their own hands that their days are numbered.

Meanwhile President Lungu is hopeful that the number of financial crimes that will be recorded Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) Politically Exposed Persons (PEP) report for 2018 will reduce.

Presidential Spokesperson Amos Chanda has told Journalists FIC Director General Mary Tshuma has hinted to President Lungu that the report is positive.

Mr. Chanda says Ms. Tshuma attributes the positive outlook to sensitization programs by the civil society organizations, the media and other stakeholders.

The Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) has concluded its Politically Exposed Persons (PEP) report which President Lungu is expected to launch before the end of this year.
