NAQEZ disappointed with 15.3% allocation to the education sector in the 2019 National Budget

NAQEZNational Action for Quality Education in Zambia (NAQEZ) is disappointed with the K13.3 billion or 15.3 percent allocation to the education sector in the 2019 National Budget.

NAQEZ Executive Director Aaron Chansa says it was expected that the education sector could at least get an allocation of 20 percent in the 2019 national budget.

Mr. Chansa tells Q-news that the allocation is not adequate considering that the sector faces a lot of challenges.

He has since urged the Members of parliament not to approve the 15.3 percent allocation, but instead ensure that it’s adjustment to about 20 percent.

Mr. Chansa notes that in as much as the country is facing economic and financial challenges, the education sector is the foundation for the nation’s sustainable development and therefore needs more funding.
