State asks Court of Appeal to dismiss Mukata’s appeal

The State has asked the Court of Appeal to the dismiss the appeal by former Chilanga Member of Parliament Keith Mukata who was convicted for the murder of his security guard by the Lusaka High Court.

Mr Mukata has appealed against his death sentence for the murder of Namakambwa Kalilakwenda who he shot at his law firm AKM Legal Practitioners.

The State advocates led by Deputy Chief state advocate Monica Mwansa submitted before the court that there are no extenuating factors that could have forced Mr Mukata to shoot dead his security guard.

The state has submitted that it’s not in dispute that the deceased’s death was as a result of gunshot wounds caused by Mr Mukata’s gun.

The state has maintained that the former Chilanga lawmaker is directly connected to the murder of his security guard.
