PF lacks political will to amend POA- Mwiimbu

UPND Monze Central Member of Parliament Member Jack Mwiimbu says the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) lacks political will to amendment the Public Order Act.

Mr. Mwiimbu says the PF wants to continue abusing citizens hence delaying the amendment process of the public order act.

He has wondered for long the issue of the public order act will continue to be discussed.

Mr Mwiimbu notes that for a long time now various stakeholders have been making submissions towards the amendment of the act, but that the ruling party keeps finding excuses to delay the process.

He states that the public order act is a good piece of legislation, but that its management and administration remains the biggest challenge for the country.

Meanwhile Mr. Mwiimbu who is also leader of the opposition in parliament says it is wrong for the police to insist on enforcing the public order act with regards political gatherings as the judiciary has already guided on the matter.
