President Edgar Lungu has directed that the remains of the Zambians that died in the recent road traffic accident in South Africa be repatriated back to Zambia.

Vice President Inonge Wina says President Lungu has also directed that the Ministry of Defense makes the arrangements for the repatriation.

Mrs. Wina has told Parliament during the Vice President’s Question Time that the President’s directive is that this be done on Sunday the 23rd of September next week.

She states that President Lungu has further directed that government takes over the funeral of all those that perished in the said accident.

And Mrs. Wina has disclosed that the top management at ZAMPOST has been put on suspension following the institution of investigations into the misapplication of the social cash transfer funds.

Mrs. Wina has told the House that this is in order to allow investigative wings and auditors conduct their investigations before criminal prosecutions can commence.

Meanwhile the Vice President has justified the statement President Lungu made on the social cash transfer programme in his speech to open the third session of the twelfth  national assembly.

Mrs. Wina states that President Lungu was correct and clear on how successful the social cash transfer programme has been in the Country.

She thinks that there is therefore no justification in taking away anything from what President Lungu said on the performance of the fund despite donors freezing their aid to the programme.

The Vice President was responding to Mazabuka Member of Parliament Garry Nkombo who wanted her to expunge President Lungu’s suggestion that the social cash transfer programme has been successful when in fact not in view of the donors’ decision to freeze aid to the social cash transfer programme.
