The Zambia Tourism Agency (ZTA) has since January 2017 registered 948 tourism enterprises in the Country’s tourism northern circuit.

ZTA Managing Director Felix Chaila says about K 4.5 million has also been collected from the registration exercise.

And Mr. Chaila has announced the start of the grading of Zambian accommodation facilities across the Country by the ZTA.

Mr. Chaila says the grading is in an effort to implement Statutory Instrument number 14 of 2018 which sets out the minimum standards for accommodation facilities.

Meanwhile ZTA Licensing and Standards Acting Director Solistor Cheelo says the grading of accommodation facilities will ensure effective marketing of tourism and improve the quality of service.

Zambia last had the grading of its accommodation facilities over 30 years ago.

The grading exercise by the ZTA is however being conducted in collaboration with the grading council of South Africa and has drawn 21 local grading assessors.
