Govt to raise 44M fish fingerlings in 2019

The Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock has appointed a task force to look at how to increase the production of fingerlings in Zambia by 44 million in the year 2019.

DJrWIU4W0AAPAGVFisheries and Livestock Permanent Secretary David Shamulenge says this increased production will be done through the Aquaculture Seed Fund of the Zambia Aquaculture Enterprise Development Project.

Speaking at a media briefing in Lusaka Dr. Shamulenge said the project is being implemented by government through the department of fisheries with support from the African Development Bank.

Dr. Shamulenge says that the Aquaculture Seed Fund which is to be administered by the Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC) will benefit more than 3000 entrepreneurs.

He notes that this is along the aquaculture value chain in all the10 provinces of Zambia.
