Zambia needs break from electioneering – Silavwe

The opposition Golden Progressive Party (GOP) has proposed that Zambia considers adopting the Party-list Proportional Representation System (PR).

The GOP is of the view that adopting such a system which other Countries like South Africa use, can enable Zambia reduce on holding of perpetual by-elections.

Party president Jackson Silavwe has told QTV News in a statement his party thinks that doing away with costly by-elections can leave room for real economic development in Zambia.

Mr. Silavwe says Zambians therefore need a break from continued electioneering in between general elections to give development a chance.

He states that the GOP does not believes Zambia will ever attain meaningful development if continues to hold by-elections at the rate at which it has been doing.
