Rodgers Mwanza charged with Indecent Assault on Female

Rodgers Mwanza, a Petauke resident who was arrested for allegedly sexually abusing an unconscious woman has been charged with the offense of Indecent Assault on Female.

The offense is contrary to section 137 of  the penal code chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia

Zambia Police spokesperson Esther Katongo says the Police in Petauke have also charged Mwanza, 28, with production and circulation of obscene material contrary to section 177 (a) of the penal code.

In a statement Ms. Katongo says Mwanza is scheduled to appear in Court soon.

If convicted for the two offenses, Mwanza is likely to save jail sentences of up to 14 years, for indecent assault and a maximum of five years for circulation of obscene materials.

Esther katongo ZPAnd Ms. Katongo has disclosed that the Police in Western Province are looking for a man in connection with the poisoning of six people, three of whom died while three others were hospitalized.

Ms. Katongo says  Nyambe Lienda, a Daily Classified Employee at Nyingo Rural Health Center in Katoya Village of Kalabo District, is suspected to have administered a drug to the six victims who are all females.

She states that the suspect is reported to have administered the said drug on the 08th of September last week about 14:00 hours, on pretext that the medicine was able to cure all ailments.

Ms. Katongo states that three of the six victims identified as Nosiku Biemba, Namushi Nyambe and Sibeso Biemba however died on the same day.

She says the other three, whose names are  Namakau Nyambe ,66, Manawa Kalumbu ,52, Liyoyelo Nyambe,51,  are still hospitalized at Kalabo District Hospital.

Ms. Katongo notes that the drug administered to the victims has not yet been ascertained but that the police has launched a manhunt for the suspect who is believed to be on the run.

Meanwhile Ms. Katongo says the Police in Western Province over the weekend recovered three AK 47 rifles from three suspected assassins commonly known as Karavinas who were apprehended.

Ms. Katongo says the  suspects were apprehended after Police conducted an operation following a tip off from members of the public.

She states that the assassins in question are the ones who are also believed to be behind murders involving people suspected of practicing witchcraft in the area.
