Health Minister Dr Chitalu Chilufya says political commitment at the highest level is key to the successful implementation of the global strategy for cholera prevention and control.
And the minister has supported the adoption of the regional frame work for the implementation of the global strategy for cholera prevention and control 2018-2030.
Dr Chilufya said political commitment should be topmost and the first issue to be addressed if the framework has to be successfully implemented.
Dr. Chilufya stated that political commitment, with the support of President Edgar Chagwa Lungu, was a game changer in containing the cholera that broke out in October 2017 and declared over in June 2018.
He emphasized that premium should be placed on coordination, as it summons coherence amongst sectors players.
Dr Chilufya has since supported the adoption of the Regional Framework for the Implementation of the Global Strategy for Cholera Prevention and Control 2018-2030 as it is a comprehensive, well written and it touches on the major areas that need to be addressed in order for the world to attain a state of well-being for all.
The Minister of Health said this in a statement on the Regional Framework for the Implementation of the Global Strategy for Cholera Prevention and Control, 2018-2030 at the on-going the 68th Session of the WHO Regional Committee for Africa in Dakar, Senegal.
