Zambia sugar to upgrade Lubombo road at K10 million

vlcsnap-2018-08-29-18h36m50s222Zambia Sugar PLC has announced that over 10 Million Kwacha will be spent to upgrade the Lubombo road and support rural communities of Mazabuka, Southern province using cobblestones.

The Zambia Sugar is partnering with the International Labour Organization (ILO), Barclays Bank Lafarge, Road Development Agency to upgrade the 10- kilometer Lubombo road to enhance agricultural and entrepreneurship in Mazabuka, Southern Province.

Zambia Sugar Managing Director Rebecca Katowa says the project is all encompassing as it ensures shared value through private public and community partnership.

Speaking during the site visit of the 10- kilometer Lubombo road Ms. Katowa says been the largest employer in Mazabuka, Zambia Sugar is committed to ensure  people have access to markets through a good road network.

She says the project will also promote agricultural activities by providing easy access markets.

Speaking earlier ILO Country Director Alexio Musindo says the project will demonstrate the use of labor-based road paving technologies,

Mr. Musindo says this is besides promoting skills and enterprise development and job creation for the rural communities in Mazabuka.

And Southern Province permanent Secretary Mwangala Liomba has commended Zambia Sugar and its partners for the tremendous effort it has put in place to ensure the take-off of the Lubombo road.
