Manyama signs for Chiefs

LEBOLebogang Manyama has signed for Kaizer Chiefs, joining on a free transfer after an abortive season in Turkey.

No details of his contract were given by Chiefs, who made the announcement on their twitter account.

The 27-year-old Manyama was named the best player in the Premier Soccer League at the end of the 2017-18 season and back home after having had his contract at Konyaspor cancelled after a disappointing year overseas.

Manyama started only one league game and two cup matches and failed to score and after New Year saw no action for the Turkish club.

Although he is from Alexandra in Johannesburg, Manyama’s best spells have come down in the Cape.

The first was with Ajax Cape Town from 2010 to 2014 but his finest season came in the campaign before last, ending as the 2016-17 Absa Premiership Player of the Year season as Cape Town City finished third. His 13 goals in the Absa Premiership also made him the Golden Boot winner.

He has also played at SuperSport United and Mpumalanga Black Aces.
