Lusambo concerned with poor service delivery at Lsk’s Chipata hospital

Lusaka province minister Bowman Lusambo is concerned with the poor service delivery by health personnel at Chipata level one hospital.

The minister who made an impromptu visit to the health facility says the facility lacks good and effective management.

Long queues of patients with various ailments where found at the health facility at 08:00 hours this morning this morning, with most of them saying they had been in the queues as early as 06:00 hours.

Some patients talked to complained of slow and poor service at the health facility.

And Mr Lusambo has urged the health officers at the hospital to up their game in the provision of effective services to the public.

But Doctor in-Charge, Dr Victor Lyuma said they are overwhelmed by a large number of patients as the facility’s catchment area is wide and carters for over 500,000 people.

Dr Lyuma says the facility only has three doctors, a situation which makes it difficult to attend to and dispose off a large number of patients.

The Lusaka province minister also visited Matero level one hospital where the situation was better, although some patients talked to complained of the facility lacking certain medicines which the sister in charge acknowledged.
