HH condemns govt’s decision to introduce more taxes

Opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema has condemned government’s decision to introduce more taxes on the Zambian people who he says are hardly surviving.

hh1Mr. Hichilema says taxes on rentals, internet, roads, and several others being introduced by the PF are not only in bad faith, but are hurting the country’s economy.

He has told Journalists in Lusaka that with the high cost of doing business in the country, the Patriotic Front is making it even more costly for innocent Zambians.

Mr. Hichilema says the recent introduction of tax on internet based phone calls and several other taxes are only a channel for the Patriotic Front to allegedly continue plundering public resources.

He has charged that these taxes will end up in people’s pockets like the case was in the US$42 million fire engines.

Mr. Hichilema says these taxes are hurting the poor, the jobless youths, widows, women and many Zambians whose hopes are pinned on a low cost business environment.
