Export of maize trigger increase in price of poultry feed

The Poultry Association of Zambia (PAZ) has observed that the export of Maize and Soya Bran has led to the increase in the price of poultry feed in the country.

PAZ Executive Manager, Dominic Chanda says this development has caused an outcry from domestic poultry farmers.

Mr. Chanda says there is increased domestic demand for the Zambian Grain and Soya Beans thereby pushing the prices upwards.

He notes that private players in the region are also offering good prices for the commodity the move which has resulted local buyers buying the commodity at export market prices.

Mr Chanda has called on the government to help farmers add value to the commodities so that benefits are enhanced.
