United Nations Resident Coordinator, Janet Rogan has encouraged political parties to consider adopting more female candidates to contest for elections in future.
Ms. Rogan has told q-news in an interview that while it is incumbent upon political to adopt more women to contest women must also make themselves available for political positions stressing that it is important for them to be in decision making positions.
She points out that it is important for various sectors to have 50- 50 percent of women and men in decision making positions if gender parity is achieved in the country.
Ms. Rogan says Zambia must take a leaf from Rwanda which has at least half of its member of parliament are females.
