KK not well placed to resolve Barotseland impasse – BNFA

The Barotse National Freedom Alliance (BNFA) has opposed the proposal that first Republican President Kenneth Kaunda helps to resolve the issue of the Barotseland Agreement of 1964.

BNFA first trustee William Harrington says it is unfair for anyone to expect that Dr. Kaunda can help to resolve the impasse over the Barotseland.

vlcsnap-2693-05-05-05h24m31s249Mr. Harrington says this is for the simple reason that it is in fact Dr. Kaunda, as Republican President then, who was the Architect of the abrogation of the Barotseland Agreement.

In an interview with QTV News Mr. Harrington has recalled that in the years 1968 and 1969, Dr. Kaunda introduced Constitutional amendments that repudiated the Agreement.

Mr. Harrington states that he does not therefore think Dr. Kaunda is well placed to resolve the abrogated Barotseland Agreement of 1964.

He says what Dr. Kaunda can however do is to urge President Edgar Lungu to append his signature to the Permanent Court of Arbitration agreement documents that are already before State House.
