25 perished during Farmers’ Day holiday

Twenty Five (25) people died in 22 fatal road traffic accidents across the country during the Farmers Day holiday.

Zambia Police Spokesperson, Esther Katongo has disclosed in a statement to Q-News that this is from 213 accidents recorded from Friday, 3rd August to Monday, 7th August.

Ms. Katongo states that a total of 24 persons were seriously injured while 54 others sustained minor injuries.

She says the number of deaths recorded by the police from traffic accidents during this year’s holiday increased compared to last year when only 13 deaths were recorded during the same holiday.

Ms. Katongo, however, states that the number of casualties has reduced this year to 103 compared to 127 casualties recorded in 2017.
