BuyZed urges youths to venture in aquaculture

Research think tank BuyZed Campaign has urged youths in Zambia to buy-in government’s initiative of promoting aquaculture.

Founder Evans Ngoma has urged youths in the Country to take advantage of the US$ 50 million targeted at empowering local communities in aquaculture under the Seventh National Development Plan.

Mr. Ngoma says his organization believes that such an investment will be self sustaining for as long as Zambians support government’s initiative.

EVANS NGOMAIn an interview with QTV News Mr. Ngoma notes that besides creating employment and wealth for the locals, promotion of aquaculture will enable the Country to reduce on imports of fish.

Mr. Ngoma says BuyZed Campaign holds the view that Zambia’s fisheries sub-sector can grow to an extent of the Country becoming a net exporter of fish and thereby earn foreign exchange.

He notes that the market for fish is already there.

And Mr. Ngoma says the theme for this year’s Zambia Agriculture and Commercial Show of Sustainable Economic Empowerment, reflections well government’s focus in the Agriculture sector.

He says BuyZed Campaign is in support of sustainable economic empowerment of the Zambian people.
