Fire guts building near Kitwe’s Chisokone market

Fire has gutted a building near Kitwe’s Chisokone market on the Copperbelt affecting four restaurant makeshifts and one pool table in bar.

This fire is the second in a space of less than one week on the Copperbelt as three days ago a fire swept through Chingola’s Chiwempala Market destroying to ashes over 12 makeshift restaurants.

KatangaCopperbelt police commissioner Charity Katanga confirmed the development to Q news.

Mrs. Katanga has disclosed that the fire Occurred in the early hours of today Saturday 4th August at around 01 20hrs at house number 3 Enos Chomba Avenue in Kitwe.

She explains that the report of the fire was received from Swati Mulela aged 43 of house number 3 in the same road, who reported that five makeshift structures where gutted by fire.

The police commissioner has however disclosed that Council fire brigade managed to put off the fire but the makeshifts where already burnt down.

She says it is suspected that a burning brazier was left in one of the makeshift restaurants and it is suspected to be the source of the fire.
