Amendment of POA will help promoting peace- SACCORD

The Southern African Center for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) has observed that amending the Public Order Act will help in the promoting peace among political players in the country.

SACCORD Executive Director Boniface Cheembe says his organization, therefore, expects parliament to ensure that Public Order Act is attended to during the coming sitting of Parliament as a way of promoting peace in the country.

Mr. Cheembe says there is need for the country to start making progress in addressing social conflicts that can be avoided by amending the Public Order Act.

He states that there is need for proper coordination between the government and parliament in ensuring that this important piece of legislation is taken to the House for amendment.
