Hunger looming in Katyetye Chiefdom

Chief KatyetyeChief Katyetye of the Tambo speaking people of Isoka District says hunger is looming in his chiefdom arising from the hiccups encountered in the implementation of the e-voucher system under the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP).

The Traditional Leader has told QTV News that farmers received the inputs very late, some as late as March 2018.

He says his people more especially in the Luangwa Valley may need relief food for them to survive this year.

Chief Katyetye has since advised the government through the Ministry of Agriculture to begin preparations for the 2018/2019 farming season early so that by September 2018, everything should be in place in readiness for the farming season.

Chieft Katyetye adds that there is urgent need to address the hiccups encountered in the 2017/2018 farming season.
