Eni Aluko scores in final game as Chelsea end season unbeaten

Eni Aluko inspired a dramatic comeback as Chelsea Ladies completed the Women’s Super League season unbeaten.

The Blues’ undefeated record was under serious threat as goals from Jess Clarke and Niamh Charles put opponents Liverpool 2-0 up after only nine minutes.

But Aluko, who announced on Wednesday she will be leaving the club after six years, pulled one back with 20 minutes to play before creating the visitors’ equaliser for Ji So-yun.

Ji then curled home a superb winner with six minutes remaining to wrap up a thrilling 3-2 victory for the champions.

Manchester City secured second spot, and a place in next season’s Champions League, with a 3-0 win at home to Everton.

Jill Scott opened the scoring with a fine strike from the edge of the area and hit the third on the hour after Nikita Parris had doubled the lead.

Arsenal, who needed City to slip up to snatch second, were comprehensive 6-1 winners at Bristol City.

They raced into a 5-0 half-time lead through goals from Danielle van de Donk, Kim Little’s penalty, Leah Williamson, Beth Mead and Katie McCabe.

Chloe Arthur pulled one back for City before Van de Donk hit number six.

Reading held on to fourth after a 1-1 draw at Birmingham. Brooke Chaplen put the visitors ahead before Ellen While equalised.

Ann-Marie Heatherson fired bottom side Yeovil ahead at Sunderland but Keira Ramshaw and Bridget Galloway condemned them to a 2-1 defeat to mean the Glovers ended the season winless.
