Police arrest chief Mulundu for Murder

treeplantingChief Mulundu of  Mwense district in Luapula province has been arrested for allegedly murdering one of his subjects.

Luapula province police commissioner Elias Chushi has confirmed to QFM by telephone that chief Mulundu has since been detained in police custody.

Mr. Chushi says the police is to issue a warn and caution statement from the traditional leader.

Mr. Chushi who could not state the name of the deceased person, says   three other persons who include the cheif’s retainer under police custody are also to be charged with the same offense.

He states that investigations into the matter is ongoing and that the police are fighting running battles with resisting angry residents who are reported to have earlier burnt the chief’s palace and attempted to root his private businesses.

Our reporter Lazarous Sichula who witnessed the riots, reports from Mwense that ZNS officers were also deployed to quell the rooting the shops belonging to chief Mulundu.
