Govt urged to announce maize floor price

Government has been called upon to consider quickly announcing the maize floor price for the forthcoming marketing season.

UPND Chairman for Rural Reconstruction and Development Moono Mapani tells QTV News that farmers, more especially in rural areas are eager to know the maize floor price.

Mr Mapani has also appealed to government to consider offering farmers a higher price compared to last year’s price.

He states that for the farmers to be motivated, government should consider offering not less than K100 per bag of maize.

Mr Mapani has further advised the government to start preparing for the 2018/2019 farming season now.
