Steven Katuka – UPND Secretary General
The opposition UPND says it cannot take interest in the process of amending the Republican Constitution without first being enticed to do so.
UPND Secretary General Stephen Katuka says as a stakeholder, his party has to be given an opportunity to be interested in the process if the PF government wants it to be involved.
Mr. Katuka has disclosed that as things stand the UPND does not even know what the government wants to amend in the Republican Constitution.
He has wondered how then can anyone accuse his party of resisting to be part of the amending process when it has not been invited by government.
Mr. Katuka says if government feels that it knows it all and amends the Republican Constitution without consultation, the UPND will leave it to itself to continue making mistakes.
He says the government should however be wary that it was lack of consultation that led it to give the people of Zambia a faulty Constitution which it now wants to amend.
Mr. Katuka was speaking to QTV News in an interview.

And in another development, the opposition UPND in Lusaka Province has called for the disbandment of the Medical Stores Limited in view of the recent revelation of the stolen drugs worth $1 billion at the institution.
UPND Lusaka Province spokesperson Otis Bwalya says if such a huge amount of money worth of drugs can be stolen it can only mean that the Medical Stores has become a conduit for corruption.
Mr. Bwalya has told QTV News in an interview that his party therefore agrees with those calling for the resignation of the Minister of Health Chitalu Chilufya.
He says his party does not think Dr. Chilufya had to wait until now when the revelation has been made for him to give an explanation to the Zambian people on the alleged stolen drugs.
