Lusaka water to increase water tariffs
The Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company has announced that it will implement the 15% increase in water tariffs this month following the approval by the National Water and Sanitation Council (NWASCO).
Company marketing and public relations manager Patson Phiri says NWASCO has granted the Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company the go ahead to implement the adjusted tariffs after it met the required conditions.
Mr Phiri explains that the tariff adjustments were approved by NWASCO in 2016 for implementation in three consecutive years of 20%, 15% and 5% in 2017, 2018 and 2019 respectively.
He says in a bid to cushion the impact of the ZESCO tariffs of 2017,NWASCO had earlier allowed the water utility to adjust its tariffs by 4% .
