Luanshya recorded 14 of 94 maternal deaths recorded on Copperbelt province in 2017

Luanshya Mayor Nathan Chanda has disclosed that the district recorded 14 of the 94 maternal deaths recorded on the Copperbelt province in 2017.

And Mr. Chanda is optimistic that with concerted efforts, the district will have no mothers dying during child birth.

He has since called on health institutions in Luanshya to intensify their efforts to curb maternal deaths.

Mr. Chanda says it is important for health institutions to re-strategize and learn from the causes of the past maternal deaths that the district had recorded in order to save lives.

Meanwhile Mr. Chanda has commended President Edgar Lungu for Launching the National Health Week saying good health is a prerequisite for sustainable national development.
