Government has postponed the printing of the Draft Constitution bill that was scheduled to be published today Friday, 11th May.

Minister of Justice Given Lubinda has told a media briefing in Lusaka that the delay follows requests from various stakeholders who want to make further submissions to enrich the constitution making process.

Mr. Lubinda says stakeholders who include the Zambia Center for Interparty Dialogue (ZCID) have expressed concern that the initial time government gave for submissions was inadequate.

He states that to this effect, government and various political parties agreed on Wednesday the 10th of May to allow more consultation on the draft constitution bill.

Mr. Lubinda has told journalists that as a consequence, the revised roadmap for the constitution making process will also be made in the due course.

He says his Ministry is particularly interested in the outcome of the National Democracy Stakeholders’ summit to be held by the Zambia Centre for Interparty Dialogue (ZCID) on May 16th.
