A rider of an unregistered motorbike Sanglg 125-2 has died on his way to lundazi hospital after he was involved in an accident which occurred yesterday, 04th may, 2018 at about 10 00 hours on Chikwa road near Musondo Nyirenda in Lundazi District .
Police spokesperson ester katongo says the deceased has been identified as Thomas Phiri aged 27 of Kalobya Village, Chief Tembwe Of Chama District.
She says the accident happened when the victim failed to keep to his lane hence collided with another motor bike a Sanglg 150 -5 which was moving in the opposite direction.
Ms. Katongo says the rider of the Sanglg 150- 2 sustained injuries and he is admitted to lundazi district hospital while the body of the deceased is in the same hospital mortuary.
And in a related development, a male juvenile aged seven (07) years of Muchinshi area also of kayowelo village died on the spot in an accident which happened yesterday, 04th april, 2018 at about 1800 hours on Chingola – Solwezi road at Kayowelo Village.
Ms. Katongo says the accident happened when the driver of the motor vehicle Nissan van registration number agb 1837 driven by Nicholas Mumba aged 42 of kapiri mposhi lost control of the motor vehicle due to excessive speed hence hit the pedestrian who was standing off the road.
She says body is in Muchinshi hospital mortuary while the driver has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
