Policy Monitoring and Research Centre (PMRC) head of research and analysis Salim Kaunda has called for the enhancement of agriculture diversification during the implementation of the Seventh National Development Plan.
Mr. Kaunda says the Agriculture sector is one of the sectors in the Seventh National Development Plan that requires more funding, hence the need for the government to increase the budgetary allocation to the sector in the 2019 national budget in its quest to diversify the sector.
He tells Q-News that once government through the Ministry of Finance increases the budgetary allocation to the agriculture sector, it will help bring about value addition to other cash crops other than maize.
He adds that this in turn has the potential to trigger industrialization in the country.
And Mr. Kaunda has called for funds to be set aside for administrative implementation purposes of the Seventh National Development Plan.
