vlcsnap-2018-05-05-07h22m20s294The Council of Churches in Zambia says the debate on President Edgar Lungu’s nationality is unnecessary looking at the challenges the country is facing.

CCZ General Secretary Father Emmanuel Chikoya says it is important that politicians stop discussing trivial politics at the expense of constitutional reforms.

Fr. Chikoya says politicians should provide checks and balances to government instead of concentrating on debating unnecessary issues that do not even benefit the majority poor Zambians.

He has told QTV news that as a country, there is need to move forward and address real issues such as constitutional reforms.

Fr. Chikoya says the debate on President Lungu’s nationality is a mere academic exercise.

He has since advised politicians against creating an atmosphere that will make dialogue difficult.
