Health Minister Chitalu Chilufya says the construction of a first level hospital in Luano district in Central province will commence this year.

And Dr Chilufya has upgraded Ching’ombe rural health centre in Luano district to a Zonal health facility.

Speaking when he officiated at the upgrading ceremony of the rural health centre to a Zonal health facility, Dr Chilufya reiterated the PF government’s commitment to providing universal health coverage for all.

He said it is of great importance for government to ensure the creation of a network with a zonal facility where there are more people to which referrals can be made.

And Dr Chilufya said government will embark on an aggressive restoration of Luano district in infrastructure development with the construction of four health posts in Tembwe,Mulembwe,Katetaula and Milembo expected to commence in 30 days.

Meanwhile St. Joseph Rural Health Centre Sister in-Charge at Ching’ombe Reverend Sister Emery Chipamba bemoaned the lack of transport at the health centre after the only available vehicle from donors was involved in an accident in November 2016.

Sr. Chipamba explained that the health facility is forced to use a motorbike to carry patients and expectant mothers for referrals.

In response the Health Minster promised to make available a Land Cruiser that will be used as a utility vehicle as well as an ambulance by Wednesday next week.

And Senior Chief Mboloma of the Lala speaking people of Mkushi district has expressed gratitude to President Edgar Lungu and his government for their works towards the provision of universal health coverage.
