Chief Government Spokesperson Dora Siliya says the relationship between Zambia and Cuba remains intact despite the decision by Government to expel Cuban Ambassador to Zambia Nelson Vilas for engaging in political activities.

Ms Siliya says the Zambian government did the correct thing to expel the Cuban envoy as he acted out of the established diplomatic etiquette.

Speaking during a media briefing, Ms Siliya disclosed that the new Cuban Ambassador to Zambia is expected in the country soon.

And Ms Siliya says the debate on President Edgar Lungu’s originality should come to an end, as it is unproductive.

She says the law requires one to be a Zambian to be eligible to contest the presidency, and that President Lungu has stood twice as republican president.

Ms Siliya, who is also Information and Broadcasting Services Minister, says those questioning President Lungu’s origins are therefore being unreasonable.

She says there are many important national matters they can attend to other than questioning the President’s origins.

Meanwhile, the Chief Government Spokesperson has disclosed that the government has released K36 million for the displaced people at the construction site of the Ndola International Airport out of the K56 million.
