Government has set aside a total of K150, 000 to refurbish the gutted Mukobeko clinic outpatient department in Kabwe which has left over 8, 000 residents without health services.

Mukobeko clinic out- patient department got gutted in October 2016 and has been dysfunctional since then.

Speaking after touring the gutted facility in Kabwe, Health Minister Dr Chitalu Chilufya says government through his ministry will embark on a fast track process to ensure that the facility is refurbished and is able to offer the much needed health service to the people in the area.

Dr Chilufya has disclosed that currently over 8, 000 residents of Mukobeko have to trip to nearby clinics of Kawama and Makululu in Kabwe to access health services.

Dr Chilufya adds that apart from the 150 000 that will be used to refurbish the clinic, the clinic will also be reequipped with human resource as a way of getting the facility back to its status.

He has since re-emphasized the agenda of the patriotic front government led by President Edgar Lungu in offering universal health coverage throughout the country.

Dr Chilufya is therefore optimistic that the refurbishing of the facility will be completed by May this year.
