Kambwili granted bail

KambwiliRoan Member of Parliament Chishimba Kambwili has pleaded not guilty to 34 counts of being in possession of properties reasonably suspected to be proceeds of crime.

And Lusaka Magistrate Mwaka Mikalile has granted Mr Kambwili a K10,000 bail with two sureties.

Mr Kambwili has also been asked to surrender his passport to the court.

This was after the state objected to the bail application by the defence on the ground that Mr Kambwili is a flight risk having flown out of the country to South Africa when he was asked to report to Woodlands Police Station.

The state further based their argument on Mr Kambwili’s decision to storm out of the ACC interrogation.

Magistrate Mikalile has since set 4th June,2018 as the trial date, with 30th April and 28th May as the dates for mention.

The NDC Consultant was yesterday denied Police bond after being discharged from Care for Business Medical Centre where had been admitted.

He was later taken to the University Teaching Hospital for medical attention.

Mr Kambwili was arrested last week by the Anti Corruption Commission and charged with 39 counts.
