333 Evelyn hone college students nabbed for rioting

The Number of Evelyn Hone College students arrested for riotous behavior has risen to 333.

The students are believed to have taken to the streets to riot over their misplaced exam results for last semester by TEVETA.

Police public relations Officer Esther Katongo says among the 207 students arrested last night, 119 are male while 88 are female.

She says the students caused damage to infrastructure at their institution particularly the institutional Clinic and Administration block.

Ms Katongo adds that the students also pulled down the wall fences that demarcate Evelyn Hone College with NIPA and ZICAS.

 

Meanwhile Police in Central Province have arrested a suspected mental patient for allegedly murdering a five (5) months old baby.

The suspect has been identified as 39-year old Martha Nyambose of Edmond Mumba village in Chitambo District.

Ms Katongo says the incident is reported to have happened on 21st March, 2018 around 06:10 hours when both parents of the victim had gone to the field leaving the baby alone in the house.

She says upon returning home, they found the child dead with bruises on the chest, back and was also bleeding from the nose.

The body of the child has since been buried while the suspect remains in police custody.

In a related development, Police in Lusaka have arrested a 37-year old man identified as Simenja Miyoba for allegedly administering suspected poisonous substance to his one year 11 months old male child after an argument with the baby’s mother who is the suspect’s girlfriend.
