The Basic Education Teachers Union of Zambia (BETUZ) has observed that the country has continued grappling with a high pupil-teacher ratio.

BETUZ Spokesperson Kabika Kakunta says this is despite the recent teacher recruitments.

He notes the need for the government to fill the huge human resource gap that still remains in the education sector.

Mr Kakunta tells Q-News that government should therefore expedite the recruitment process for teachers to increase human resource in the education sector.

Mr. Kakunta states that this should be done before the end of the year.
