STOP FAZ 2018 football season- PHPF

Heroes stadiumThe Public Health Partnership Forum (PHPF) has called on the Ministries of Health and Local government and housing to consider stopping the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) 2018 football season from commencing this Saturday until all the stadia in which hosts matches are certified fit to host such competitions as a cholera prevention measure.

Board Chairperson Brian Kabika says his organization’s investigations have established that most stadia used by both super and lower division teams have deplorable sanitary facilities.

He says in some cases sanitary facilities hardly exist while in certain situations they lack running water, inadequate urinals and latrine accommodations.

Meanwhile Mr. Kabika has also called on government to address the rampant abuse of alcohol by soccer fans during matches.

He says about 90 percent of soccer fans that go to watch football at the stadia are usually intoxicated with beer.
