Sinkamba asks Govt to shield tabling of Constitution Amendment Bill

SinkambaGreen Party President Peter Sinkamba has called on Government to shelve the tabling the of Constitution Amendment Bill until some key processes that are on-going such as election petitions in the Constitutional Court, the Commission of inquiry on Political violence, and the dialogue on the land policy, among others, are concluded.

Mr. Sinkamba says it will be premature and an illustration of lack of seriousness on the part of Government to proceed with proposed amendments before these processes are brought to finality.

He says it will be premature for government to present the Constitution amendment bill in the June-July session of Parliament as indicated by Justice Minister Given Lubinda.

Mr. Sinkamba notes that the country has so many processes funded through the nose by the public, which the Green Party feels should feed into the contemplated constitution amendment process.
