A joint team of Police and Anti Corruption Commission officers this morning raided the Woodlands residence of Roan Member of Parliament and National Democratic Congress (NDC) leader Chishimba Kambwili.

The joint team comprising about 20 police officers and four ACC officers raided Mr. Kambwili’s home at 06.00 hours.

They conducted a search which lasted for about five hours before going away with Mr. Kambwili’s documents including property title deeds.

Later, Mr Kambwili told journalists that he is aware of a ploy by the PF government to detain him and later poison him while in police cells.

He claims to be in possession of a recording in which PF officials are heard saying that he will not live to see the 2021 general election as he will be poisoned and die like late Zimbabwean opposition leader Morgan Tsvangarai.

Mr Kambwili says the ACC officers were searching for suspicious documents for airplane, water vessels and vehicles.

He says this is a clear plan to intimidate him by the PF administration, but that he will not be intimidated in anyway.

Meanwhile NDC supporters harassed ZNBC reporter Brian Mwale and chased reporters from the state media.

meanwhile Lusaka Magistrate David Simuusamba has warned Roan Member of Parliament Chishimba Kambwili to stop interfering with state witnesses.

This is in a matter in which Mr Kambwili is facing three counts of forgery, UTTERING false documents, and presenting false documents to a public officer.

He has warned Mr Kambwili that he will not hesitate to commence contempt proceedings against him if he continues to interfere with witnesses.

Magistrate Simuusamba has also warned Mr. Kambwili through his lawyers to present a surety before the court, next time he fails to appear before the court.

He expressed dismay at Mr. Kambwili’s absence in court considering that it was the only matter he was scheduled to attend to.

This was after senior state advocate Margret Chitundu complained to the court that Mr. Kambwili has been interfering with witnesses and requested that the court warns him through his lawyer.

She also complained that Mr Kambwili’s absence has inconvenienced the court and the four witnesses who were coming from out of town to testify.

Earlier Mr Kambwili’s lawyer Mulenga Mutamfya of Keith Mweemba Advocates informed the court that his client could not appear in court following a Police raid at his woodlands residence.

The Matter has since been adjourned to the 19th March 2018, for continued trial.
