Chief Nsamba of the Unga people
Chief Nsamba of Lunga District in Luapula Province says hunger is looming in four chiefdoms in the district.
The chief has named the affected chiefdoms as Kasomalunga, Kalimakonde and Kalimaponde and Nsamba.
He has attributed the looming hunger situation in the district to continued rains which have destroyed crops and late delivery of farming inputs.
Chief Nsamba has since appealed to the government to conduct an assessment in Lunga District and see how best they can address the looming hunger situation.
He has further appealed to the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) to start sending relief food to the area.
