The opposition UPND says it is not surprising that the PF leadership has decided to procure thousands of bicycles and other campaign materials such as motor vehicle, motorcycles and branded them with Edgar Lungu’s face.

The opposition political party has is also seeking guidance from Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) and other relevant authorities whether the action by the PF leadership is prejudicial as the matter of President Edgar Lungu’s eligibility is still in courts of law.

UPND Deputy Secretary General Patrick Mucheleka in a statement issued to QFM News says this is the same PF leadership that has lamentably failed to deliver farmers inputs under the e-voucher system, yet they have the impunity to procure expensive campaign materials way ahead of the elections coming in 2021.

Mr. Mucheleka says this shows the complete lack of priorities on their part as they would rather preoccupy themselves with campaigns and elections to keep a failed and corrupt leadership in power at the expense of service delivery to the Zambian people.

He says when the UPND is in office, they will channel such materials towards the agriculture extension services in rural areas and combating animal diseases under the agriculture diversification programme.

He adds that the party would rather give bicycles towards traditional birth attendants so that mothers do not die during childbirth.

Mr. Mucheleka states that the party has no doubt that these materials are being procured using taxpayers money, hence the reason the PF wants to continue imposing more taxes on the already heavily taxed citizens.

The UPND Deputy Secretary General says these are the resources that should be allocated to hospitals and clinics for the improvement of the health sector.
