Inspector General of Police Kakoma Kanganja has cautioned members of the public against making unnecessary movements during awkward hours during the long weekend to avoid being easy targets for suspected ritual killers.

In a message to Zambians ahead of the long weekend, Mr. Kanganja says his advice comes after a spate of suspected ritual murders recorded in the recent past.

The Police Chief has further advised those going out partying to always ensure they do not move unaccompanied as this gives an opportunity for criminals to attack unsuspecting members of the public.

Mr. Kanganja has also advised managements at various Shopping Malls and trading places to ensure they maximize security considering that such areas are usually frequented by members of the public during times like this.

He states that in this regard, Police officers throughout the country have been advised to increased foot and motorized patrols in communities, highways and business centers with a view of safeguarding people’s lives and property.

The Inspector General of Police has further advised all motorists to always observe Road Traffic Rules and regulations and at all costs avoid driving under the influence of alcohol or illicit substances.
